Arabic for Kids

The app we built for our own son.

ROLE
Product Design · Illustration
PLATFORM
iOS · iPadOS
BUILT WITH
Figma Illustrator Xcode

Arabic for Kids is personal. Sylvia is from Egypt, and we could not find a useful app to teach our son Arabic, so as designers we built one: interactive, playful, and made with love.

01 A WORLD, ILLUSTRATED

Every element of the learning world is original art: characters, letters, and rewards drawn as one family, so the app feels like a picture book that answers back.

02 SKETCH TO SCREEN

Three stages take a kid from seeing a letter beside an animal, to hearing how it sounds, to writing it. The wireframes staged every screen around the illustrations, with the sounds and animations planned from the first sketch.

03 SHIPPED, AND GROWING

Built in Xcode, live on the App Store, and now the first of four language apps sharing one design system. The best product research we ever ran still sits at our dinner table.
