A documentary about ten very different lives connected by having appeared onscreen wearing masks or helmets in Star Wars.
The techniques that video editors use to shape their content reveal a lot about how people create meaning in the world. Editors have a deep understanding of how people think, feel, remember and learn, and we use this knowledge to build powerful, moving stories and experiences. The best editing decisions come from empathy — both for the people who exist virtually on the screen and for the audience watching them.
An American friend living in Beijing once said she refused to communicate with anyone whose email address consisted of a string of numbers, such as 62718298454@163.com. This made sense to me at the time—why make email addresses as difficult to remember as phone numbers? But I soon realized that issuing a blanket ban on number-based communications would mean cutting off just about every single Chinese person I knew.
This business card, created from an actual iPhone screen, was made for an Apple engineer (whose name has been removed by request).
RigWheels showed off their new Passport Camera Dolly system at NAB, which takes flat mount and 75mm/100mm bowl mount tripods, and has the ability to completely fit inside one Pelican case. What might be most impressive for those who travel is the fact that the Passport Camera Dolly system comes in at 50 pounds, so it will go right into your checked baggage before a flight without any more fees. The system is now available for pre-order, and you can check out more details below.
This blog is a quick look at some simple Ui motion design principles. There isn’t too much documented about this area of mobile ui design and I thought there would be some value in expressing my views. There are rumors to accompany every generation of mobile devices. The potential to push past HD video and into digital cinema resolutions is a frequent rumor surrounding the video capabilities of many phones. There is no doubt that high-end mobile devices are capable of capturing good looking HD video, but 2K and beyond is not yet the mainstream for the mobile crowd. Apple will be coming out with updated iPhones and iPads later this year, but current owners of the iPhone 5s won’t have to wait for a new phone to capture 2K video. The Ultrakam Pro app allows iPhone 5s owners to capture 2k resolution video.

Creativity. That most intangible and subjective of qualities, but one which forms the backbone of any designer's career. What is creativity? Why are some people able to leverage it, whilst others aren't, no matter how hard they try? How can we improve our creative thought processes and, ultimately, become more creative? All these questions and more will be answered during the course of this session..
During this tutorial we will be building the fantastic Timeline Portfolio as seen in anearlier tutorial by Tomas Laurinavicius. We will be using some responsive techniques as well as CSS3 animations, Sass and a little bit of jQuery.
At its F8 developer conference Facebook today announced that it will soon open-source more of the technology behind its Paper mobile app for iOS. In a few weeks, the company will upload the code for DisplayNode to GitHub. This is the asynchronous user interface technology the company developed for Paper, which allows it to render large amounts of objects on the screen without slowing down the application.

Julie Zhuo started working at Facebook almost eight years ago at age 22. At the time, she didn't know what she'd be working on, or where the company was going. But she liked its energy, the way everyone hacked forward, together. Today, as Director of Product Design, she feels like she was able to grow up with the organization — and as a result, shape several of the processes that have made Facebook unique.
