Notification Design Strategies - UX Booth | UX Booth

Interacting with most websites is simple: we sign up, we sign in, and, occasionally, we give websites a bit of our time and attention. Maybe we share a preference or two. In return, those sites provide us with not only useful information (in the short term), but also notifications and other recurring updates (in the long term). This functionality is nothing new. It’s often convenient.

Photoshop's Timeline Rocks

This is another of my anti-tutorials, where I share how I stumbled my way through something. It's not necessarily how things should be done and I'd love any feedback from people that really know what they're doing.

Take a look at your boarding pass. You want to know where you need to be and how to get there – your boarding pass should quickly and simply communicate your next steps. The problem is, it doesn’t. What you’re looking at is a collection of strangely ordered acronyms, oddly formatted times and numbers and sequences that demand significant attention to decipher.

In this tutorial, we are going to take a look at how to shoot and process a time lapse video of the stars. As the earth rotates, the stars appear to move across the sky during the night, but they move so slowly that the only way to really appreciate this phenomenon is through time lapse footage. We'll cover finding a location, choosing your gear, setting up your camera and doing the post-production.

Web Markdownifier for PopClip - BrettTerpstra.com

To follow up on my Marker bookmarklet, I’ve created a PopClip extension called WebMarkdown (a.k.a. WebMD) that does pretty much the same thing (take a web page selection and turn it into Markdown). It’s a handy trick when you’re gathering notes or just want to save a portion of an article.
