Microsoft has already said that Office Mobile will be supported on iOS, Android and Windows smartphones, although the company hasn't said before now whether the app suite would be Web-based or platform-native.
Revolutions in technology come in waves only a few years apart. That BBEdit is still an essential tool more than two decades after its initial release is remarkable. BBEdit’s relevance is due in part to the company’s focus on its users' current needs, and in part to its attention to larger trends.
Amazing article by Andy Ihnatko. Useful!
These three simple – but hidden – techniques are relatively easy to master and will save you lots of time. You will also learn how to switch between the Gridify and Grid Placement modes to quickly draw shapes and then create arrays of them. Plus you’ll be able to distribute them regularly across your layout with ease. The grid drawing techniques can be applied to any drawing object in InDesign – including frames for content.
Back when I had a jailbroken iPhone, one of my favorite Cydia tweaks was a hack called Switchy, which came to life based upon an initial forum post mocking up a more advanced app switcher for iOS. I’m hopeful, then, that the same will prove true for this new switcher concept posted over the weekend, which might be the best looking, most attractive and most functional app switcher we’ve seen yet. Lytro’s light-field technology eliminates the need to focus — since the key selling point of the camera is its ability to refocus pictures after the fact.
The very mention of QR codes will likely incite groans in the least cynical of technophiles. What once was a tangible and exciting example of two-worlds colliding, bringing the physical world into the digital realm with funky barcodes and smartphones, now illustrates what can happen when we’re not really quite sure how to implement a fledgling technology. Football teams with QR codes on their shirts? I rest my case.
Super Cool!!!
A new iPhone 5 dock being sold through China-based iPhone5mod.com could be the first third-party product to ship with Apple’s new Lightning connector. Earlier reports indicated that accessory manufacturers would have trouble producing Lightning-compatible products due to a unique authentication chip Apple is using in the new standard. According to reports from M.I.C Gadget and MacRumors, which spoke with representatives of the company, the dock and cable from iPhone5mod are actually using chips obtained from Apple’s suppliers. They also provide all the same functionality. However, the company hinted cracked authentication chips are available and working:

As many of you know, my Halftone app was featured by Starbucks as its Pick of the Week this past August. I visit Starbucks daily for my morning caffeine fix, and over the course of a couple weeks, I managed to collect a small stack of the Halftone cards. They’ve proven to be a fantastic promotional tool and a very handy way to give someone a free copy of the app.

Between the popular Kinect camera and the experimental 3D desktop, Microsoft has been hard at work improving virtual navigation in the three-dimensional space. Despite advancements in technology, execution has long relied on stationary or cumbersome equipment to make detection possible. At the 25th ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology (UIST), Microsoft Research will be showcasing a new method of 3D tracking in the form of Digits, a wearable prototype that is able to track hand motions without the inconvenience of bulky hardware.

I’d like to mention that the Matterhorn team, our previous codename, is the finest team I’ve ever worked with. I’ve never met more talented, driven individuals, and that without our tight bond this project could never have happened. I should also mention that these views are my own and not those of Disney, you know how that goes. Please read and get a glimpse behind the curtain of how we made it happen.
Nice books !!! thanks Jim.

Check out iPod Classic browser demo
Here’s a fitting tribute to Steve Jobs on the one-year anniversary of his death: a working iPod Classic that runs in your browser. It’s a work in progress by Inventika Solutions developer Pritesh Desai, who lovingly crafted this superb browser toy using HTML5, CSS3, and a few other tricks. It’s lovely and brilliant.
