The use of web fonts has continued to explode in 2013 — designers are no longer content with using standard system fonts like Arial and Georgia. On my side projectTypewolf, I categorize the latest website designs by the web fonts they use. These are the ten most popular fonts I’ve noticed from analyzing font usage on Typewolf in 2013.

I like to enter the base font size of my body content. Then I select from the surrounding values for headers and small copy.
If two characters in a font look awkward when placed next to one another (fl being a classic example) a ligature can be designed to help out. The ligature glyph is then “mapped to” (associated with) the letter combination in question. When the browser encounters that combination, it switches the letters out for a single ligature.
